Rules and Regulations of the Competition
Wrocław Drawing Triennial 2026 “RMX”

General Competition Rules

1. The organizer of the competition is the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław.
   1. The organizer of the competition exhibition is the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, and the co-organizer is the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław.
   2. The general curators of the Wrocław Drawing Triennial 2026 are Patrycja Sap-Przedwojewska and Piotr Kmita.
   3. The curator of the competition exhibition of the Wrocław Drawing Triennial 2026 is Patrycja Sikora.
2. The aim of the Wrocław Drawing Triennial 2026 “RMX” Competition, henceforth referred to as the competition, is to present various forms of drawing activities and those that revolve around drawing, while not being directly connected with it, to describe the current state of artistic explorations in the field. One of the primary objectives of the Triennial is to showcase a diverse range of activities in the field of drawing, particularly those that emphasize formal and conceptual experimentation.
   1. For the purposes of these Rules and Regulations, the following terms shall have the meanings set out below:
      
      1. participant — an individual or an artistic group that has submitted an entry to the competition;
      2. work — a piece or project submitted to the competition, including a series of works or a proposal for a performative action.
      3. competition — the Wrocław Drawing Triennial 2026 “RMX” Competition, conducted as an open call;
      4. competition exhibition — an exhibition of works qualified for the second stage of the competition.
3. The competition exhibition will take place at the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław (7 Bernardyńska St.) from 23 October 2026 to 15 December 2026.
4. The Wrocław Drawing Triennial 2026 Competition is an open competition, conducted as an open call. The competition is open to artists who are at least 18 years of age and have a documented artistic practice of at least two years (evidenced by an exhibition record, portfolio, or artistic CV). In the case of an artistic group, the requirement of at least two years of documented artistic practice must be met by at least one member of the group.
5. The competition accepts works created between 2023 and 2026, in any technique and artistic convention, representing a broadly understood approach to drawing, relating to the competition theme, and constituting the property of the author(s). An artist or an artistic group may submit from one to three works (including series of works forming a complete and coherent project, or proposals for performative actions). The submission of a work that does not comply with the above requirements or exceeds the permitted number of works may result in the rejection of the submission at the stage of formal verification.
   1. Only works that relate to the competition theme and use drawing as an element of the concept, medium, or artistic strategy will be admitted for evaluation.
   2. The organizer of the competition reserves the right to refuse admission to the competition, as well as to exclude, at any stage of the competition, works that cannot be exhibited for technical reasons or that violate applicable laws in Poland, principles of social conduct, or standards of respect toward individuals or social groups.

Participation and Submission Conditions

6. Individual submissions
   Individual submissions, together with the required attachments, are accepted exclusively in electronic form via the form available on the organizer’s websitewww.trwro.pl), from 12 May to 22 June 2026, until 23:00. The submission must include the following attachments:
   
   1. documentation of the works in accordance with the specifications set out in point 7;
   2. confirmation of payment of the competition fee in the form of a PDF document generated by the bank.
   1. Group submissions
      Group submissions, together with the required attachments, are accepted exclusively in electronic form via the form available on the Organizer’s websitewww.trwro.pl), from 12 May to 22 June 2026, until 23:00. The submission must include the personal data of each member of the group (Part “A” of the form), and all required consents and declarations must bear the handwritten signatures of all group members (Part “B” of the form).

      The submission must include the following attachments:

      1. documentation of the works in accordance with the specifications set out in point 7;
      2. confirmation of payment of the competition fee in the form of a PDF document generated by the bank.
   2. Participation in the competition is conditional upon the correct completion of the submission form and the submission of all required attachments.
7. Submitted proposals, at the stage of admission to the competition and during the first stage of the competition, will be evaluated on the basis of documentation, photographs, video files, or — in the case of proposals for performative actions — visualizations with the following parameters:
   
   1. photographic documentation of the works: files in JPG or PNG format, with a minimum of 1000 pixels on the shorter side and a maximum of 5000 pixels on the longer side; file size not exceeding 10 MB;
   2. video files: format: MP4; duration not exceeding 15 minutes; file size not exceeding 250 MB.

Entry fee

8. Participants are required to pay an entry fee of PLN 100 / EUR 25 per submitted application, as a contribution toward the costs associated with the preparation and implementation of the competition and the competition exhibition. The fee must be paid to the following account: Bank Millennium S.A., SWIFT BIGBPLPW, account no.: PL 51 1160 2202 0000 0005 8270 7307. In the payment reference, please include: TRW, the author’s full name or the name of the group.
   1. Failure to provide confirmation of the entry fee payment will result in disqualification from the competition.
   2. In the event that the works are not selected for the exhibition, the entry fee is non-refundable.
   3. n accordance with applicable laws, VAT invoices are issued to the account holder (an individual or a company) of the bank account from which the payment was made.

Competition Team and Jury

9. The organizer of the Triennial competition appoints a competition team responsible for the efficient organization of the competition, as well as a competition jury, whose responsibilities include the selection of works for the competition exhibition (understood as Stage II) and the awarding of prizes and distinctions.
   1. The competition team will consist of individuals appointed by the general curators of the Wrocław Drawing Triennial 2026. The competition team will be responsible for verifying submissions for compliance with the provisions of the competition rules and regulations and for preparing and submitting them for evaluation by the competition jury.

Stage I of the Competition

10. In Stage I of the competition, members of the jury are granted access to all submissions that have been correctly submitted and verified by the competition team. The jury evaluates the submitted works by awarding points to each work. Based on the total number of points, a ranking list of works is created. The curator of the competition exhibition determines the exhibition capacity of the exhibition space. Taking into account the exhibition capacity specified by the curator of the competition exhibition (expressed numerically), a corresponding number of the highest-ranked works will be selected from the ranking list, in accordance with the above procedure.
    1. Due to limitations resulting from the exhibition venue, the organizer reserves the right to contact the author of a work qualified for Stage II in order to agree on the manner of its presentation. The final decision regarding the method of display of the works rests with the curator of the exhibition.
    2. The decisions of the competition jury are final and not subject to appeal.

Stage II of the Competition

11. Information on the works qualified for Stage II of the competition will be published on the Triennial website (www.trwro.pl) by 10 July 2026.
12. Participants qualified for Stage II of the competition will be required to provide photographic documentation of the works in TIFF format at a resolution of 300 DPI, as well as additional promotional materials — such as the artist’s biography, a photograph of the artist, and an artist statement — by email to opencall@trwro.pl by 2 October 2026.
13. In Stage II of the competition, the jury selects the laureates on the basis of the original works presented in the exhibition.
14. The original works qualified for Stage II must be delivered in person, at a date arranged individually with the curator of the competition exhibition, or sent between 14 September 2026 and 2 October 2026, by 15:00, to the address indicated in the email received from the organizer of the competition.
    1. Only works that are properly secured and packaged will be accepted. Shipments containing works must include a complete return address and be packaged in a way that allows the packaging to be reused for return shipping.
    2. After the exhibition, the works must be collected in person at a date arranged individually with the curator of the competition exhibition, but no later than 22 January 2027. Works not collected in person will be returned to the return address at the participant’s expense, as cash-on-delivery shipments via a courier company selected by the organizer. The works will be returned as standard, uninsured shipments. If a participant wishes to use a different method of return (also at their own expense), they are requested to contact the organizer.
    3. After the ineffective expiry of the collection deadline referred to in point 14.2, the works will be stored by the organizer at the participant’s cost and risk, in premises at the organizer’s disposal, under non-museum conditions. The organizer shall not be liable for any deterioration in the condition of the works resulting from storage under non-museum conditions after the expiry of the collection deadline.
    4. The costs of delivery and collection (including return shipping) of the works, as well as any insurance during transport, shall be borne by the participants. The organizer of the competition shall not be liable for any damage incurred during transport or resulting from improper packaging of the work by the participant.
15. Works qualified for the exhibition must be prepared for display, i.e. equipped with appropriate hanging fixtures and an identification label affixed to the reverse of the work.
16. The competition exhibition will take place at the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław (7 Bernardyńska St., Wrocław). The opening of the exhibition and the announcement of the competition results will take place on 23 October 2026. The winners of the prizes and distinctions will be announced during the official opening of the exhibition. The exhibition will run until 15 December 2026.
17. The organizer reserves the right to change the dates specified in the rules and regulations without providing a reason. Any such changes will be announced on the website www.trwro.pl.

AwardsPrizes

18. The competition provides for the following monetary prizes:
    • Grand Prix: PLN 40,000 — prize funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage
    • Prize funded by the Mayor of Wrocław: PLN 20,000
    • Prize funded by the Rector of the Academy of Art and Design: 10,000 PLN

    >The organizer of the competition reserves the right to award additional prizes and distinctions, including the Audience Award. The rules for granting the Audience Award will be specified in a separate set of rules, to be published on the website www.trwro.pl by 10 October 2026.

    1. Prizes for group submissions
       In the event that a prize is awarded to an artistic group, its distribution among the group members shall be carried out in accordance with the instructions provided by them in the submission form. The group may specify the distribution of the prize in equal shares or in another proportion indicated by them. In the absence of such specification in the submission, the prize shall be divided equally among all members of the group.

Personal Data Protection

19. Participants’ personal data will be processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, repealing Directive 95/46/EC, as well as with the provisions of the Polish Act of 10 May 2018 on the Protection of Personal Data (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2016, item 922).
    1. The controller of the participants’ personal data is the organizer of the competition
    2. Participants may contact the Data Protection Officer appointed by the organizer directly in the event of any questions or concerns related to the processing of personal data in connection with the organization of the competition. The Data Protection Officer appointed by the organizer can be contacted at the following email address: iod@asp.wroc.pl.
    3. Detailed information on the scope, purpose, and methods of processing participants’ data is provided in the Information on the Processing of Personal Data, which forms part of the submission form referred to in points 6 and 6.1.

Other Terms and Conditions

20. >The participant grants the organizer a non-exclusive, free-of-charge license to present the works during the competition exhibition, to record them, and to use reproductions of the works (including photographic and video recordings) to the extent necessary for the implementation of the competition and the competition exhibition — their promotion, documentation, and archiving — without territorial or time limitations. The license includes, in particular, publication in catalogs, promotional materials, and publications related to the competition, the competition exhibition, and the organizer’s activities, both during the competition and in the future, in mass media and on the Internet.
21. The participant acknowledges that the content of the competition submission and the submitted materials, including documentation of the works, may be processed by the organizer using IT tools for purposes related to the organization, evaluation, documentation, and promotion of the competition.
22. The participant bears full responsibility for the content of the submitted works, including any infringement of third-party rights.
23. The organizer shall not be liable for events beyond its control, in particular cases of force majeure, which may affect the course of the competition.
24. Submission of an entry constitutes acceptance of the provisions of these rules and regulations.
25. Organizator dokonuje wykładni niniejszego regulaminu oraz rozstrzyga sprawy w nim nieuregulowane.
26. The organizer reserves the right to amend the provisions of these rules and regulations at any time for important reasons, as well as to suspend, interrupt, extend, or cancel the competition without providing a reason. Any such changes will be announced on the website www.trwro.pl.
27. In matters not regulated by these rules and regulations, the provisions of Polish law shall apply.

These rules and regulations shall enter into force on the date of their publication.
